Poetry & Spoken Word to take over the Fourth Plinth in The Old Library, Worcester

Poetry & Spoken Word To Grace The Fourth Plinth

Join Local Poets & Writers as they take over Worcester’s Fourth Plinth as part of an ongoing series of events

Poetry and spoken word is on the agenda on Saturday 7th July 2012 as the fourth plinth will play host to a rich variety of readings by local poets and writers.

Starting at 10.00am some of Worcestershire’s most talented poets and writers will read their work in the space and those confirmed so far to take part include Math Jones, Jenny Hope, Catherine Crosswell, Andrew Green, Chardonnay Jade, Holly Magill, Polly Robinson and the runner up of this year’s Worcestershire Poet Laureate Competition, run by the Worcestershire Literary Festival, Suz Winspear.

Suz, who is also the organiser of this event, is a regular performer on the spoken word scene in the area and she has also performed regularly at events in Gloucestershire and Birmingham.  She has been reviewed as “the Midlands sexiest Gothic poet” and she continues to read her poetry to appreciative audiences across the Midlands.

The Fourth Plinth is situated in the old Worcester Library in Foregate Street and has been running since June 25th.  It is a temporary space which has been created to highlight the strength of creativity and heritage in the area.  A wide variety of creative people have taken and will continue to take up residence, one day at a time, and so far the plinth has hosted events by the Worcestershire Film Festival,  Discover History and Nathaniel Pitt to name but a few.  Visitors to the project space will also be able to share their own opinions on the ex library space and take part in some of the projects.

Organiser of the event Suz Winspear said: “This is a free event from 10.00am till 1.00pm and any passers-by can drop in and listen to the readings for as long as they want.  This event is all about showcasing the diverse vibrancy of the local spoken word scene”.
