The Museum of Carpet in Kidderminster is hosting Light and Shade, a special performance for National Poetry Day, Thursday October 8th at 7.30pm. The evening will be presented by The Worcestershire Poet Laureate, Heather Wastie who was Writer in Residence at the Museum in 2013 and has written a collection of pieces about the carpet industry which will be published later this year. Also featured will be Chloe Clarke, the Worcestershire Young Poet Laureate and Maggie Doyle, The Worcestershire Poet Laureate Emeritus, and there will be a touch of theatre to surprise the audience with Suz Winspear and Nina Lewis. As part of the evening, finalists in Heather’s recent poetry competition, Brian Comber, Jenny Shaw and Claire Walker, will perform before the overall winner is announced.
The event is presented in conjunction with Worcestershire LitFest and admission is free, but advance booking is required. Telephone the Museum on 01562 69028.
“The audience is in for a treat;” says Heather Wastie, “not just because of the quality and variety of poets, but because we will journey into part of the Museum not normally open to the public to see and hear something a bit different!”
